Microorganisms could be prevented up to 99.99% percent with 254 nm UV radiation. Ultraviolet systems are generally used to microbiologically disinfect water and keep it hygienic.
In order to fully achieve disinfection with ultraviolet radiation, all residue and turbidity must be eliminated beforehand. Therefore it is recommended to use a cartridge or a sand filter to be used before ultraviolet treatment.
185 nm UV radiation, however, is utilized in hydrocarbon removal. These special systems are required in specific sectors (semiconductor manufacturing, micro branch circuit manufacturing, cell culture studies, etc.).
Advantages of the ultraviolet system:
- Easy to use
- Highly disinfecting
- No byproduct or residue
- No additional corrosives
